1. What have you accomplished since your last report? (For the first report, you will briefly describe your activities for the previous week).
This is my first report and since I spent all of last week at the TCEA convention, I'm feeling a little behind. I had thought about using the need that has already been determined in my district to teach the department webmasters how to use Paint Shop Pro to create buttons. This is a new interface for them so just the look and feel of the program will be different. I had thought to include in the email I send to them letting them know the class was available a survey to assess their understanding of graphic vocabulary. They are already average users of the Windows 2000 operating system and Internet Explorer 5.5. Since I usually only have 2-4 hours to work with them, this was to basically get them started in creating a small graphic that could be used in a rollover image effect.
I've also read the comprehensive exam information and realize I really need to brush up on my facts again regarding instructional design.
2. What are your short-term objectives and plans for achieving those objectives for the next two weeks? First part of the plan is to flesh out the details of the training I plan to create. Since I want the instructor led training to match the online and printed training materials, I need to create a layout that will work with all three mediums. The specific icons and vocabulary that I intend to address also needs to be planned.
My second goal is to get out my instructional design books and notes from previous semesters and begin reviewing. I use the ADDIE model almost without thinking about the process, but I've forgotten the details of the model. I need to reread the comprehensive exam info and understand what will be expected.
3. What have you learned since you submitted your previous synopsis?
Since this is the first synopsis, I've learned this may be my most difficult semester since it is not as structured as the other classes were. Without quizzes, discussions, synchronous meetings, I'm struggling to stay on task. The other thing I've learned is I've forgotten specific details about instructional design.
