My Home Network

	My home network is in two rooms, the living room and a guest bedroom.	The Floor Plan
I have a desktop PC and a laptop I use for work. I purchased a wireless network card for the desktop PC so I wouldn't be tied to a cable. In the bedroom, the phone jack also serves as a DSL connection. I purchased a wireless DSL hub for flexibility in connecting the laptop and desktop. The desktop is connected to the scanner and laser printer via USB connection.		The components
	Since I have the desktop computer and use a laptop with wireless access in it, I chose to add DSL connectivity through SBC Global and use a Linksys wireless access point.	The budget and justification are itemized here.

Equipment availability and cost - A home PC and laptop used for work make up my home network.
Internet access availability—SBC Global DSL is my home Internet Service Provider. Due to the laptop, I have chosen to install a wireless DSL hub to access the laptop and desktop.
Configuration simplicity—Due to my career, the wireless network configuration will be an excellent learning experience for me due to our goal to be wireless in many of the district conference rooms with the Birdville ISD.
The environment of the network—The manner in which DSL is configured eliminated any need for extra wires. The DSL connection enters the home through the existing phone line and requires a static reducing dongle for the phone and DSL to be connected to the same phone jack. Three dongles were included with the SBC package, which is all the phone lines in the home.
Security for the Internet connection—Due to security concerns, I have purchased Zone Alarm Pro Version 4.0 for additional encryption protection ($39.95) Both computers have Symantec Anti-virus software configured to check for new definitions on a daily connection basis.
Preferences and knowledge of installer—This is my first actual configuration of a network for home or office use. I utilize a WAN and LAN at work but do not have to have knowledge or maintain that network.
